Anode Bags
Quality Anode Bags for Metal Finishing and Plating Industries
Anode bags are crucial for maintaining the integrity of your electroplating process by preventing metal fines and residues from contaminating the plating solution. Commonly used materials like Polypropylene and Poly Nap offer durability and reliable performance, but we also supply other fabrics such as cotton and synthetics to meet diverse needs. As a leading distributor, we carry a comprehensive line of anode bags available for quick delivery, ensuring you have the right solution on hand when you need it. Whether standard or custom, our anode bags are designed to keep sludge where it belongs—inside the bag, not in your bath
Step 1: Choose Your Material
Select from a variety of materials that best suit your application requirements, including options like perforated, mini-expanded, and polypropylene mesh.
Material | Description/Properties | Recommended Usages |
---|---|---|
Cotton Duck | Heavyweight natural cotton filter fabric. 10 oz weight | Alkaline copper, double bagged with polypropylene for nickel |
Canton Flannel | Heavyweight cotton with napping on one side. 8 oz weight | Higher filtration needs, alternative to Cotton Duck |
Cotton Sateen | Medium weight natural cotton. Smooth, linen-like feel | Cyanide copper, barrel nickel |
9 oz Polypro | Medium weight, good tensile strength, smooth surface | Acid zinc, nickel, acid copper, alkaline zinc, acid tin |
8 oz Polypro | Lighter weight than 9 oz, better transfer from anode | Same as 9 oz, but with less filtration |
12 oz Polypro | Heavyweight, excellent tensile strength, good permeability | Acid plating solutions (zinc, nickel, copper) |
13 oz Polypro napped | Heavyweight with thick nap, excellent filtration, high wet strength | Bright nickel, acid copper, often double-bagged with 9 oz Polypro |
13 oz Polypro | Heavyweight, excellent tensile strength, good filtration | Acid plating solutions (zinc, nickel, copper) |
Light poly twill | Lint-free, smooth surface, good filtration, excellent cake release | Satin nickel, acid zinc nickel, tin-zinc alloy, zinc iron |
Heavy poly twill | Heavyweight, excellent tensile strength, durable twill weave | Acid plating solutions (zinc, nickel, copper) |
Mono-Filament Polypro | 100% Polypro, exceptional strength, smooth surface, easy cake release | Acid/alkali resistant, reusable filter media, carbon/chemical bags |
Polypropylene felt | 100% Polypropylene, non-woven micron-rated filter media, glazed on one side | Nickel, acid copper, air and liquid filters |
509 Nylon | 100% Nylon, smooth surface, relatively lightweight, good alkaline resistance | Cyanide copper, alkaline baths |
Step 2: Determine Your Sizing
Based on your operational needs, choose the right size and configuration. We offer both rectangular and round baskets in various stock lengths, with custom sizes available upon request.
Baskets
- Width: Add the width and depth of the basket, then add 1-1/2” for fit and seam allowance.
- Length: Take the length dimension of the basket and add 3” for fit and seam allowance.
Example:
For a 2-1/2” x 6” x 30” basket:
- Width: 2.5” + 6” + 1.5” = 10” (finished width)
- Length: 30” + 3” = 33” (finished length)
- Finished Bag Size: 10″ x 33″
Ovals
- Width: Add 2” to the width for fit and seam allowance.
- Length: Add 3” to the length for fit and seam allowance.
Example:
For a 3” Oval x 36” long:
- Width: 3” + 2” = 5” (finished width)
- Length: 36” + 3” = 39” (finished length)
- Finished Bag Size: 5″ x 39″
Slabs
- Width: Add the width and depth of the slab, then add 1” for fit and seam allowance.
- Length: Add 3” to the length dimension for fit and seam allowance.
Rounds
- Diameter: Use the following guidelines for finished width:
- 2-1/2” diameter = 5” finished width
- 3” diameter = 6” finished width
- Length: Add 3” to the length for fit and seam allowance.
Finished dimensions are measured across the bag when laid flat.
Ordering Your Anode Bags
To place an order, please provide all three dimensions of the anode or basket, along with the side that will be open. If you’re unsure about the material needed, let us know the plating solution it will be used with, and we can recommend the best option for your needs.
